CAC’s Office on Aging hosts an annual Holiday dinner for its Grandparents to Parents program. The program offers assistance to grandparents, or sometimes great-grandparents, who are foster caring children. Due to unforseen circumstances it looked as though the annual dinner would be missing  gifts for over 50 children this year. Russ Jensen, the City of Knoxville’s 311 director, put the call out for books and stuffed animals. Rusty Seymour of BB&T graciously offered to foot the bill for the stuffed animals, while the Walmart at Turkey Creek offered a substantial discount on Pillow Pets. Terry King, of St. Mark UMC, mobilized a book drive through his Sunday school class and collected over 150 books. Read the full story in this week’s edition of The Knox Focus.
