City to Host 8th Annual Teen Step Show

On Saturday, March 9th, 2013, at 7 p.m., the City of Knoxville will host the 8th Annual Dr. E.V. Davidson Teen Step Show at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium.

Every year teens from Tennessee and surrounding states showcase their moves in an entertaining competition for the chance to take home cash prizes. Last year, this much-anticipated event had around 2,000 in the audience. The event’s radio sponsor, HOT 104.5, will have Joey Tack kick off the show.

For the first time, Visit Knoxville has come onboard to help the City with management of the event this year.

City Parks and Recreation staff began the Teen Step Show not only to encourage fitness and friendly competition, but also to give students a glimpse of what to expect as a college student. The City partners with the University of Tennessee to give Step Show contestants an exclusive tour of the university’s Knoxville campus.

Current members of prominent African-American fraternities and sororities also commit time to support the event. The “Divine 9” organizations, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta, work through their partnership to send the competitors a message of team camaraderie, service, and ingenuity.

Tickets are $8 presale and $10 day of show. To order a ticket in advance, call the Civic Auditorium at 865-656-4444 or visit www.knoxvilletickets.com.
