KUB will host a public meeting Thursday, March 21, at 6 p.m. at the Bearden Elementary
School Gymnasium, 5717 Kingston Pike, to discuss a major upcoming utility construction
project along Lyons View Pike.
The community meeting will begin with a brief presentation about the project. KUB will also
introduce the prospective contractor for the project at this meeting. Representatives from KUB’s
Engineering and Customer Support departments, as well as City of Knoxville Engineering, will
also be available to discuss specifics related to construction scheduling, traffic control
implementation, detours, and access to properties.
This project will upgrade the natural gas, water, and wastewater mains, and possibly convert
overhead electric to underground, as part of KUB’s ongoing Century II and PACE 10
infrastructure improvement programs. This project is expected to begin in mid-April and last
through fall of 2013.
To facilitate a safe work zone and ensure timely completion of this challenging project, the entire
construction zone limits on Lyons View Pike – approximately 1.5 miles – will be closed to
through traffic for the duration of work; however, access will remain open to residents and
businesses.
