Who? The fight to end breast cancer starts with a single step. Take that step with us at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Knoxville. Just a few hours at our family-friendly, non-competitive, 3 mile event will help bring a lifetime of change for people facing breast cancer and their families.

What? Every Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with breast cancer research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.

When? Sunday, October 6; Registration begins at 2pm; Opening Ceremony begins at 2:30pm; Walk starts at 3pm

Where? 3 mile walk begins and ends at World’s Fair Park

How much to register?
There is no registration fee to participate in Making Strides. Register online at makingstridesknoxville.org (through Friday at 5pm) or on the day of the event beginning at 2pm. Participants may simply bring their donations to the event.

Why? It is more important than ever that we continue to invest in the fight against breast cancer because an estimated 5,070 women in Tennessee will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and that’s too many. Thanks in part to the progress we’re making together, however, more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors living in the U.S. will celebrate another birthday this year.

Contact? For pre-event coverage/interviews contact Amy Fields at amy.fields@cancer.org., 558-4057 (office) or 806-5893 (cell). Day of coverage/interviews will find contacts at the Media Tent beside the Main Stage at World’s Fair Park.
