ORNL Federal Credit Union’s (FCU) Small Business Counts Cash Mob program has already had a positive impact on multiple local businesses and communities throughout East Tennessee, from Fountain City to West Knoxville to Oak Ridge and Clinton. For the first time since launching the program, the credit union has announced that its next cash mob will be held in downtown Knoxville at a unique retail store called Nothing Too Fancy on Union Avenue between Market Square and Walnut Street on Thursday, November 7th.

Nothing Too Fancy (NTF) is the vision of Dustin and Lisa Burnett, who opened the store in fall 2012 to fill a void in Knoxville’s downtown retail scene by providing a place for guys to shop for ultra-soft t-shirts. After engaging multiple local artists inspired by Knoxville’s vibrant and varied culture, however, the store quickly turned into much more. Nothing Too Fancy now features a wide variety of screen printed items, salvaged treasures, handmade jewelry and one-of-a-kind items that Knoxvillians won’t find anywhere else, whether it’s a vintage inspired t-shirt, a chandelier made of old flashlights or unique artwork.

The Small Business Counts Cash Mob program was created to recognize and show support for local merchants, like Nothing Too Fancy, in the 16 counties that ORNL Federal Credit Union serves by encouraging people to shop locally at a given date and time. The program includes the promotion and support of two local businesses each month and will continue into 2014.

At the cash mob event, the first 30 people will receive a $20 gift card to use on any merchandise within the store, courtesy of ORNL Federal Credit Union. Limit one per family or couple. Other special discounts and offers will also be available.

For more information about the Small Business Counts program or to nominate a local merchant, visitwww.SmallBusinessCounts.com. There is no requirement for the business to be a member of ORNL Federal Credit Union to be selected for a cash mob. Details of future cash mobs will be made available approximately one week in advance of each event.
