Small business owner Abby Payne opened Josie’s Boutique in 1985, and, like many small businesses, has evolved with the changing industry ever since. Originally focused on providing designer brands to consumers at affordable prices, the store now features a full-service hair and tanning salon and has become a destination for renting and purchasing new release movies.

Having been in business for almost 30 years, Josie’s Boutique & New Release Video is a staple for small businesses in the Powell area, and is one of the many reasons why it was selected to be the site of ORNL Federal Credit Union’s next Small Business Counts cash mob on Thursday, March 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The first 30 customers to arrive at the cash mob will receive a $20 gift card to use within the store, courtesy of ORNL Federal Credit Union. Limit one family or couple.

The Small Business Counts cash mob program was created in July 2013 as a way to recognize and show support for local merchants, like Josie’s Boutique & New Release Video, in the 16 counties that ORNL FCU serves by encouraging people to shop locally during a given date and time. The program includes the promotion and support of one or two local businesses each month and will continue throughout 2014.

For more information about the Small Business Counts program or to nominate a local merchant, supporters can visit www.SmallBusinessCounts.com. There is no requirement for the business to be a member of ORNL Federal Credit Union to be selected for a cash mob. Details of future cash mobs are made available approximately one week in advance of each event.
