The annual event features Democratic candidates, a dinner, and the performance of Roy Zimmerman who has been called “Bobby Kennedy meets Bob Dylan.”

Tickets are $70 each and can be bought online at https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/trumanday2014. You can also email for tickets at info@knoxvilledemocats.org or call 540-4001.

Zimmerman has 12 albums of music and satire and more than 20 years on stage performing. He’s made a pledge, this political year, to appear in all 50 states prior to the Republican Convention.  Zimmerman has shared the stage with George Carlin, Bill Mayer, Bill Clinton, Dennis Miller, and many others. His “folk” influences come from Phil Ochs and Peter Seeger.

His songs have been heard across the country and featured on HBO and Showtime. His stage show “Live from the Starving Ear” pays homage to legendary performers like Mort Sahl, Lenny Bruce and Phyllis Diller. His show has been called a “melting pot of music, comedy and social message.”

Doug Veum, vice-chairman, says that many Democrat candidates will be attending including State representative Gloria Johnson, State Senate candidate Cheri Siler, U. S. Senate candidate Gordon Ball, and U. S. Congressional candidate Mary Headrick.
