Knox County Education Association kicks off “School Surprise” Initiative

Rebecca White, KCEA school representative from GAP Creek Elementary School, won the first monthly raffle at the October KCEA Representative meeting. The raffle is part of a new KCEA initiative called “School Surprise.”

Education Association President Lauren Hopson explained that a KCEA representative’s name will be drawn at each monthly meeting during the school year. The winning representative will then consult with their principal to identify a needed item (up to $100) that KCEA will purchase for their school. White and Gap Creek Principal Lisa Light identified some new PE equipment for PE teacher Susan Rohrer.

KCEA presented the equipment to Ms. Rohrer during the January 11 morning assembly with the kids. The Focus will report on subsequent School Surprise winners when the selected items are presented to the schools.
