The Harriman Polk Salad Festival, with entertainment and activities for the whole family, will take place on June 11, 2016 from 9 am to 4 pm, rain or shine, at the Harriman Riverfront Park. Admission is free to the public and so is parking.

The event focuses on the arts and fine crafts and is sponsored by the Arts Council of Roane County. Artists and artisans will have works for sale in booths found throughout the park. Musicians, cloggers, sword-fighters and other performers, including Rick Metcalf, with Ashley Krohn and Nicole Groot, Final Flight, Hayden Oran, The Jewell, Bo Nichols with Black Sheep Reunion, Jack Prophet and the Knoxville Academy of the Blade will grace the stage in the park’s pavilion. A free Fun Train for both children and adults will run all through the park, making easy to get from one end of the park to the other, and free, hands-on arts and crafts activities will be available at multiple sites.

The centerpiece of the event is, of course, Polk Salad – also known as “poke sallet,” accompanied by traditional fixings, including pinto beans, cornbread and deserts. All of this will be prepared by the American Legion Auxiliary #50 for the benefit of local veterans programs.

The Festival promises to be a joyous, dynamic, collaborative and multi-sensory experience for artists and audiences alike. For phots and more information visit the Festival Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TennesseePolkSaladFestival.
