Free Pressure Canner Gauge Check at Seymour Farmers Market this Saturday

Are you ready to put up some fresh green beans, corn, or maybe some homemade soup for the winter months to come?  All of these need to be processed in a pressure canner in order to reach the temperature (above the boiling point of water) necessary to destroy toxin-producing spores of clostridium botulinum.  Your pressure gauge should be checked to make sure it is accurate every year.

Linda Hyder, UT Agricultural Extension agent, will be at the Seymour Farmers’ Market from 9 to 11:00 am, Saturday June 10th to check gauges.  Bring your canner lid.  This service is free.

If you need a new canning guide book with up to date information on times and methods for processing home canned foods, Linda will have some books available for purchase.

Seymour Farmers’ Market is located in the lower parking lot of Seymour First Baptist Church on Chapman Highway just past Food City.  The market is open Saturdays 8 am to 12 noon.  For more information, visit our Facebook page Seymour Farmers Market, TN or our website www.seymourfarmersmarket.org  .
