The Mobile Meals Gift Drive is in full swing, with the last day of gift giving set for December 15th. A list of preferred gifts can be found at knoxseniors.org. Last year, the program collected more than 1,200 gifts for homebound seniors in Knox County. Mobile Meals volunteers serve hot, nutritious noon-time meals to over 900 seniors, Monday through Friday, in every zip code in Knox County. On Christmas Day, Mobile Meals clients will receive Christmas gifts and a traditional Christmas meal delivered to their homes by volunteers. For many, these will be the only Christmas gifts they receive and their only human contact on Christmas day.

URGENT! Mobile Meals needs your help! We are running low on Christmas gift bags for our homebound seniors. Please help us with your donation of gift bags to be delivered to Mobile Meals clients on Christmas day. A list of suggested gifts can be found at knoxseniors.org. Please deliver the gift bags to Grayson Subaru or the Office on Aging (2247 Western Ave.) by Friday, December 15.

On Monday, December 11th, Mayor Madeline Rogero and newly-elected Knoxville City Council members gathered at Grayson Subaru to meet with Santa Claus to pick up Christmas gifts.

CAC Mobile Meals is proud to announce that it will be participating in the tenth annual Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America – one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the promotion. From November 16, 2017 to January 2, 2018, Subaru of America will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of participating charity.

“The Subaru Share the Love event has given a lot of support to our homebound seniors in Knox County. In 2016, the event generated $10,600 for the program, enough to feed more than 10 seniors for an entire year,” said Judith Pelot, Mobile Meals program manager, “Mobile Meals delivers nutritious meals to more than 900 seniors in every zip code in Knox County. The Subaru contributions go a long way in helping us meet the needs of hungry seniors who can no longer cook for themselves and have no one to cook for them. Our volunteers also check on them to make sure seniors are safe in their home.”

Participating Meals on Wheels America members, like Mobile Meals, will receive a share of the donation raised by Subaru in their state. Mobile Meals has partnered with Grayson Subaru in Knoxville to raise awareness for the popular year-end sales and giving event, and drive support for Meals on Wheels.

“For the past ten years, Subaru of America has partnered alongside the Meals on Wheels network to deliver nutrition, companionship and comfort to our nation’s most vulnerable seniors,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America.

“Since 2008, Subaru’s Share the Love Event has helped deliver more than 1.7 million meals to seniors served by Meals on Wheels. Funds raised through this year’s event will come at a critical time for the Meals on Wheels network, allowing our boots on the ground to deliver even more of these critically needed services.”

This year marks the automaker’s 50th Anniversary in the U.S. and, for the second year in a row, there will be no cap on the total donation from Subaru of America to its Share the Love charitable partners. At the culmination of this year, Subaru hopes to exceed a grand total of $115 million donated since the creation of Share the Love to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the event.

By purchasing or leasing a new Subaru during the Event and selecting Meals on Wheels America as your charity of choice, you can help deliver nutritious meals and other important services to seniors right here in Knox County.
