The Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) seeks input on proposed service and timing improvements to six high-traffic bus routes.

Thanks to support from Mayor Rogero and the Knoxville City Council, KAT plans to extend service timeframes to the following routes starting in January 2019:

* Route 17 – Sutherland: Later and more consistent evening service on weekdays and Saturdays, and all new Sunday service

* Route 24 – Inskip/Breda: Later evening service on weekdays and Saturdays with complete 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. trips

* Route 30 – Parkridge:  Later evening service on weekdays and Saturdays with complete 7:45 and 8:45 p.m. trips

* Route 40 – South Knoxville:  30-minute service frequency on weekdays (current service operates once/hour)

* Route 42 – UT/Ft. Sanders hospitals:  Later evening service on weekdays and Saturdays with complete 7:15 and 8:15 p.m. trips

* Route 45 – Vestal:  30-minute service frequency on weekdays (current service operates once/hour)

The Knoxville Transportation Authority is scheduled to vote on the proposed changes on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m., in the City County Building Main Assembly Room, 400 Main St. Neighbors are encouraged to share input on the changes prior to the meeting, and all are welcome to attend.
