Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett today signed bond documents that will save taxpayers $247,000 annually.  The new agreement with BB&T reduces the fees that the County pays in association with outstanding bonds for at least the next five years.

“We are always looking at ways to reduce the amount that taxpayers spend on debt, and fees are a part of that,” said Mayor Burchett.  “These savings represents real dollars being spent now that won’t be spent on fees in the future.”

Since taking office, Mayor Burchett has reduced the county’s debt by more than $60 million, and has continued to focus on providing efficient county services at a savings to taxpayers.
