The City of Knoxville announced that the city’s budget will still be released, as scheduled, on Friday, April 24, 2020, but in a different format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city plans to upload the complete budget to KnoxvilleTN.gov/budget, send out an extensive summary through a media release and post a State of the City video address from Mayor Kincannon.

“Our intentions were to deliver this year’s address in person, all of us gathered together at the construction site of the new Public Safety Complex in North Knoxville,” Mayor Kincannon said.  “Of course, this year, we need to take a different approach. And while a lot has changed, the spirit of our City has not!”

Along with the budget, Mayor Kincannon will also outline a COVID-19 Response package to address immediate needs in our community amid this pandemic.

Kincannon said, “Our budget is a reflection of our values as a community.  Even amidst the crisis of COVID-19, these values hold firm and keep us focused on what matters most.”

A timeline for the budget release on Friday has not been finalized. Mayor Kincannon will be available to answer questions after the budget is made public.
