When the Knoxville City Council meets Tuesday evening it will consider requests from the police department, golf courses, city parks and discuss issuing multi-million dollar bonds.

The police department is asking for an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice for an $82,785 grant for Internet Crimes against Childrenprogram. The department is also asking for the city to apply for a variety of grants: one for $400,000 for training and services to end abuse in the Later Life Program, another for a grant of $700,000 to fund the 2015 Smart Policing Initiative, a grant of $450,000 to encourage arrest policies and enforcement of protection orders, and a $100,000 grant from the state to fund overtime pay for additional enforcement of drug and alcohol drivers.

The council will also discuss contracting with Duracap Asphalt Paving Company to pave cart paths at Whittle Springs Golf Course at $513,085. The Marble Alley Streetscape Project may be allocated $1,129,827 and the Suttree Landing Park project could get $3,344,190 for improvements in a contact with Design & Construction Services, Inc.

The First Creek Greenway project contact may be increased by $44,484 and the completion date extended.

The council will also vote on giving $2,500 to The Muse Knoxville to help in the building of a playground in Chilhowee Park.

Another city park may get a boost as well as the council votes on second and final reading to authorize $4,500 for the Fountain City Lions Club to help in the maintenance and upkeep of Fountain City Park.

The council is also being asked to accept property donated from the Knoxville Community Development Corporation on New York Avenue to be used as public parking.
