League of Women Voters, Delta Sigma Theta to register young voters

 

A county-wide high school voter registration drive will take place for one day at each high school from Sept. 24 through Oct. 3, 2018, during lunch time at area high schools. The League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County and Delta Sigma Theta sorority will provide two trained volunteers per school in the cafeterias to register eligible students using the state’s new online system. Faculty and staff may register, too.

Those interested in registering should bring a state-issued photo identification, such as a driver license or passport. Volunteers will also be available at Pellissippi State on Division Street and the Magnolia Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, which is also National Voter Registration Day.

The schedule for the high schools is as follows:

Sept. 25               Halls, South Doyle, Austin-East, Fulton and Hardin Valley

Sept. 26               Central, L&N STEM

Sept. 27               Bearden

Sept. 28               Career Magnet Academy

Oct. 1                   Carter

Oct. 2                   West, Farragut

Oct. 3                   Powell, Karns

Oct. 5                   Gibbs
