Rep. Frank Nicely will discuss his proposal to make our schools safer this afternoon on both Channel 6 and WBIR. McIntyre cites the following safety measures:

• Video monitoring systems
• Classroom door hardware that locks from the inside (finishing up last schools now – done by FEB.)
• Secure entrance vestibules at a growing number of schools
• School security and/or school resource officers at all HS & MS, and many ES
• Random searches for dangerous weapons
• An anonymous Text tip line
• Student and adult Threat Assessment protocol
• 800 mHz radio communication system that is interoperable with law enforcement
• A school safety plan at each school that is reviewed and updated at least annually.
