TELLABRATION!! The World Wide Celebration of Storytelling comes to MARYVILLE on Nov. 19 to the Vienna Coffee House, 212 College St, Maryville, from 7-9 p.m.

The Tellers At Large Enriching Schools (TALES) Project seeks to support and enrich the learning process:

We at Smoky Mountain Storytellers Association (SMSA) firmly believe in education. We recognize the difficult tasks that lie ahead in educating students. SMSA members know the power of storytelling as a non-threatening, engaging, enjoyable tool in learning. Storytelling nurtures organized thinking, listening, reading, and writing skills in addition to providing a spring board for creativity. Storytelling provides connections for students with working parents and disconnected families. For that reason the TALES Project was born.

 
SMSA is blessed with a diversity of tellers with a wide range of styles and genres. The stories represent different cultures and topics. Most tellers have advanced degrees representing many different disciplines—from professional music entertainers, stage and theater, teachers, librarians, principals, ministers, an engineer, and a geneticist. The programs SMSA can provide reflect these disciplines resulting in empowering and enriching teachers and students.

Smoky Mountain Storytellers for this evening’s program include: Susan Fulbright, Sheri Liles, Ruthie McIntyre, Kathleen Mavournin, Stephen Fulbright and Jim Eastin.
