The Oak Ridge Civic Music Association is pleased to present the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and Oak Ridge Chorus, led by Maestro Dan Allcott, in a monumental collaboration with young voices from East Tennessee and around the world for Beethoven 9! on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center.

The concert will open with Mozart’s delightful Divertimento in D for Strings and will conclude with Beethoven’s beloved and colossal Symphony No. 9.  The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will be joined for Symphony No. 9 by East Tennessee singers from Pellissippi Variations Ensemble and Sound Company Children’s Choir, as well as international guests, the Swiss Youth Choir, StimmWerkBande.

“This is a truly collaborative effort, featuring the talented members of our professional Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, the Oak Ridge Chorus, led by Seth Maples, as well as the community members, music students, and young people, who make up these excellent East Tennessee choirs, and our international guests from Switzerland,” said Executive Director, Rachel Perkins.  “Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is an enormous production for any symphony, and we are proud to be able to present it here in Oak Ridge, featuring such an outstanding group of musicians, including Kevin Richard Doherty, Sarah Fitch, Andrew Skoog, and Katy Wolfe as our vocal soloists.  We are also pleased to offer free admission to this performance for all children ages 18 and under.”

The Oak Ridge Civic Music Association is a proud participant in the Penny4Arts program and offers free admission for students 18 & under to all Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performances.  Tickets for adults are $25 and young adults, ages 19-29, are just $10.  This concert is made possible with the generous support of the Phares family, in loving memory of their parents, Margaret and Edwin Phares.  Support for the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association is provided by the Tennessee Arts Commission and WUOT FM 91.9.
