“It was an excellent day,” Cliff Rogers Director of the Knox County Election Commission told the Focus Friday morning.
Rogers reported that 3,038 voted Thursday.
“Any time we see it over 3,000 in early voting is great,” Rogers said.
Total early voting so far, including nursing home visitation votes is 15,704 plus about 1,000 absentee ballots. The new West Knox precinct at Western Plaza Shopping Center led the totals Thursday and all week.
Countywide Rogers said that 10,995 people have voted in the Republican Primary and 4,654 chose the Democratic Primary.
“General voting only saw 55 people vote. Some people don’t want to affiliate themselves with either party,” Rogers said.
Early voting ends Saturday, July 28th and August 2nd is the main Primary and General election.
