We live in America. We have so much to be thankful for as the long-awaited Thanksgiving holiday approaches once again.

Too often, it is easy to take for granted the privileges we enjoy and even those we hold most dear. It is so important for our nation and her people to cherish the many freedoms that come with being an American and remember those veterans who fought for them and the military who still protect them. Those freedoms are a part of our lives every day—in our schools, our jobs, our places of worship, our businesses.

It seems about this time every year there is someplace in America suffering from devastating wildfires or other natural disasters. Amidst our celebrations with family and friends on this Thanksgiving, it is heart-wrenching to think of those whose lives have been changed forever.

May we remember to give thanks to our Creator on this Thanksgiving for life and liberty, good health and food, homes and family, houses of worship, hospitals and first responders, friends and neighbors. Our greatest thanks should be to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Enjoy the blessings of this great national holiday; and as we are reminded in Psalm 100:4 (KJV), give thanks. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
