The deadline is soon approaching to submit an Emerald Academy enrollment application for the upcoming school year.
For families interested in sending their child to Knoxville’s first and only public charter school, applications must be submitted online at www.emeraldacademy.org by 5 p.m. on March 23.
Any Knox County resident with a rising kindergarten through eighth-grade student is eligible to apply to this tuition-free, college preparatory school.
“It is such a joy to serve young people each day at Emerald Academy. We have a tremendous team that is committed to our scholars, helping ensure they’re prepared for high school and beyond,” said School Director Renee Kelly. “The online application process is easy and only takes a few minutes. I so look forward to seeing more smiling faces in the hallways of our school next year!”
Emerald Academy opened in 2015 and will be fully enrolled with approximately 540 scholars in grades K-8 next school year.
Emerald Academy continues to grow as an education option for city families. In 2017-2018:
- Third-graders outperformed most urban Knoxville schools in the percentage of students reading at or above grade level.
- Sixth and seventh-graders outperformed their urban Knoxville peers in the percentage of students who were at or above grade level in math.
For more information about the application process, visit the school’s website at www.emeraldacademy.org or call Emerald Academy at 865-249-7223 weekdays between 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
