A man was walking down the street praying. “Lord, please give me patience–and I want it now!” How normal it is for us humans to want all the amenities of life as soon as possible. In God’s word patience is connected to trust, hope, faith, love, and good character. It also says clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Joyce Meyer on her TV miniseries says, “It’s not simply the ability to wait—-it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.
I’m certain most of us can remember the long wait when we were youngsters for Christmas to come, for our birthdays to come, for the last day of school to be over. When we got older we had to wait for the right love to come along, then we had to wait for the long nine months to pass while we waited for our first child. And that’s not all. There is waiting implied for all the goals we had to work for, for all the ambitions that we wanted to achieve during out lifetime.
Alas, even though we waited patiently, sometimes the results were not feasible, did not bring us happiness, yet, we still harbored a feeling that, at least, we waited. A feeling that brought some satisfaction regardless of how long we waited.
Here are some quotes from famous people who were patient: “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.” Leo Tolstoy.
”Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting and growing, practicing patience and being persistent.” Billy Graham
“Never cut down a tree in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision on the low time. Never make your most important decisions while you’re in the worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. Spring will come.” Robert H. Schuller
