Berean Christian girls help keep the tradition going

This rescue was different.
Knoxville Fire Station No. 11 was the recipient. Berean Christian School’s girls basketball team provided the helping hand.
It was a unique act of community service.
Eric Palmer, the athletic director at BCS and head coach of the Lady Eagles, told The Focus about it, fulfilling the community newspaper’s request to hear about local high school student-athletes’ community service during the holiday season.
“We took our high school girls basketball team to bless the firemen at Fire Station No. 11 on Monday, Dec. 12,” said Coach Palmer. “No. 11 has had a long tradition of decorating and it has been a favorite in our community. In recent years, the fireman that had taken lead on that had retired and is now pretty sick.
“We took the girls over to take cookies and hot chocolate and spend time decorating the station. The firemen were incredible! They showed the girls the station and gave them the history and were very welcoming.”
Fire station No. 11 is located at 2600 Whittle Springs Road near Belle Morris Elementary School and only about two miles from Berean Christian School.

Halls cheerleaders
Halls Cheer Coach Cheri Duncan’s cheerleaders helped out at the annual Fantasy of Trees.
“Working the Fantasy of Trees each year is something I look so forward to when the holiday season rolls around,” said junior Skylar Frye. “Seeing the genuine joy and happiness from the families that come through the stations is the greatest part of it all!”
Karns football, wrestling and baseball teams
Karns’ football and wrestling teams participated in games and activities with the kids at Beaumont Elementary School and the Karns baseball team put in time to accept donations with the Salvation Army, said Lee Warren, Karns assistant football coach and the school’s Head Strength and Conditioning coach.
