EAST TENNESSEE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY  PREPAREDNESS EXPO SET FOR SEPT. 7th

The Tennessee Department of Health’s Division of Emergency Preparedness is announcing the East Tennessee Community Emergency Preparedness Expo scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sept. 7, 2024, at the Smokies Baseball Stadium, 3540 Line Drive in Kodak, Tenn.

This is a free event and is part of Tennessee’s observation of National Preparedness Month to encourage everyone of the need to be prepared for disasters and emergencies.

“The expo is a fantastic opportunity for the entire family to learn about emergency preparedness in a fun and interactive way,” said East Region Emergency Response Coordinator,  Chase Watts. “With the participation of multiple agencies, we’re bringing together a wealth of  knowledge and resources to help our community be better prepared for any emergency.”

This expo will offer a wide range of training opportunities and demonstrations, such as:

  • Stop the Bleed: Learn essential skills to control bleeding and save lives.
  • CPR Training: Gain hands-on experience in performing CPR.
  • Fire Extinguisher Use: Practice using a fire extinguisher with a simulator.
  • Public Safety Demonstrations: Witness live demonstrations from various public safety agencies.
  • Emergency Vehicle Display: Explore emergency vehicles and equipment up close.
  • Helicopter Displays: See helicopters used in emergency response operations.

State, local, and federal agencies participating will include Tennessee Highway Patrol;  Tennessee Office of Safety and Homeland Security; Knox/East Tennessee Healthcare Coalition;  Tennessee Emergency Management Agency; Sevier County Emergency Management Agency;  and Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency.

Expo attendees will have the chance to meet and learn from emergency response professionals, gather valuable resources, and participate in activities designed to enhance their readiness for emergencies. Concessions and refreshments will be available, making it a perfect outing for the whole family.
