Founder’s Day reception to celebrate Knoxville’s 233rd birthday

Join the Historic House Museums of Knoxville on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. for the Founder’s Day Bash, a celebration in honor of our great city’s 233rd birthday! The celebration will be held at the fabulous Mabry-Hazen House, 1711 Dandridge Avenue (with parking available at 1649 Rosedale Ave).
The free event is open to the public and Historic House Museums of Knoxville promises an evening of fun, food, drinks, desserts, and history. Test your knowledge of how we went from James White establishing his homestead to today’s Scruffy City. There will be Knoxville trivia ranging from the Civil War to the World’s Fair with the top three winners taking home prizes. Donations are happily accepted with all proceeds benefiting Historic House Museums of Knoxville.
Founded on October 3, 1791, the city of Knoxville has transformed from a rough frontier settlement to the grand mountain metropolis you see today. Come meet and mingle with your local historians and museums.
The Historic House Museums of Knoxville (formerly Historic Homes of Knoxville) is a local partnership between eight historical organizations: James White’s Fort, Blount Mansion, Historic Ramsey House, Marble Springs State Historic Site, Crescent Bend, Mabry-Hazen House, Historic Westwood, and the East Tennessee History Center.
From log cabins to frame houses to stately stone mansions, these seven Knoxville landmarks invite you into the past to experience the times and events that shaped them and the families who occupied them. Each is a chapter of history unto itself and together they exemplify and celebrate the continuing pioneering spirit that created Knoxville and our great nation.
