VISIT FARRAGUT HOSTING SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE ON FEB. 24

Visit Farragut, in partnership with Topgolf Knoxville, will present a Songwriters Showcase on Monday, Feb. 24 from 6:00-8:30 pm. The performances will be held in the event space at Topgolf Knoxville, 11400 Outlet Drive, and the music will feature concerts by host David Haley Lauver, Karen Bowles, and Mitch Townley .

Tickets are free, but register in advance at Eventbrite.com to receive priority seating. Guests may also register at the door, but seating is limited. A small token of appreciation will be given to a set number of participants, and Kapture Knoxville, a local photo booth company, will be on site to offer the perfect memento.

All artists, David Haley Lauver, Karen Bowles, and Mitch Townley, are a part of the Knoxville Songwriters Association.

David Haley Lauver is a Farragut resident who serves as education and public relations director of the Knoxville Songwriters Association. Songs he has co-written include the Grammy-nominated “Appalachian Blue,” recorded by Kristy Cox, and Ali Shumate’s “Jezebel,” which reached number one on the Bluegrass charts.

Karen Bowles lives in West Knox County and is a board member of the Knoxville Songwriters Association. She writes gospel, country, blues, bluegrass and children’s songs.  Karen was a co-writer of “Appalachian Blue,” a Bluegrass hit for Kristy Cox that earned a Grammy nomination.

Mitch Townley is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Knoxville who writes in the country, christian country, folk and Inspirational genres.  He has more than 70 independent artist cuts, a song featured in a documentary about the Vietnam Memorial, and a song in the network TV show “Nashville.”  Townley was co-writer for “This Side of Sunday”, and it spent eight weeks as the number one song on the Christian Country Countdown.

“We are glad to celebrate music with live performances and to celebrate local songwriters and their art. We are also thrilled to host at Topgolf Knoxville, an important tourism asset, community gathering spot, event space, and vibrant restaurant in the Farragut community,” said Hallie Riddle, Visit Farragut Manager.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Tourism’s 2025 Tennessee Songwriters Week.  The goal of Tennessee Songwriters Week is to support music venues, promote songwriters with live performances, drive visitation, and inspire travelers to experience the state’s music stories, history, attractions, and venues.

According to the Tennessee Department of Tourism, Tennessee is known for music and its impact on the music industry.  From bluegrass, country, rock and roll, blues, and gospel music and from Memphis to Nashville to East Tennessee, music plays such a valuable part for Tennessee.
