Bill Murrah of the 4th and Gill Neighborhood was honored recently as the Good Neighbor of the Year with a plaque presented by Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon. The 78-year-old was noted as having hauled suitcases of trash, and fosters connections across demographic and social divides, creating a stronger, more unified community. Kevin Brown, a neighbor who nominated Murrah, said his service and selflessness improves the lives of others. Murrah’s contributions to neighbors, organizations, and the community are a testament to his exemplary character and enduring impact.
The annual Dianna Conn Good Neighbor of the Year event is sponsored by the Knoxville Office of Neighborhood Empowerment.
Mayor Kincannon also presented Officer Heather Leeper with the first Carol Scott Officer of the Year Award.
