Windsor Ridge Assisted Living celebrates 25 years

By Focus Staff

Hundreds gathered at Windsor Ridge Assisted Living at 5611 Central Avenue Pike on Saturday, March 22 to celebrate the facility’s 25th anniversary and to honor its founder and staff members.

Beautiful decorations and stunning floral arrangements, thoughtfully arranged by Life Enrichment Director Sepideh Abdoli, added a touch of elegance and festivity from the entryway to the hor d’oeuvre tables.  Residents and guests easily mingled, feeling right at home and happy to share in the spirit of the celebration.

Three employees were singled out by Director of Support Services Brent Brewer for honors including Lisa Duncan for her 25 years of service and Karen Dyer and Rebecca Mallicoat, both with 17 years.

Ed Shoemaker of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church began the ceremonies with the prayer of thanks and Inspirit Senior Living Director of Project and Facilities Management Doug Blevins hosted the ceremonies.

David K. McHarg, president and CEO of Inspirit, sent an invitation to all present to “please join me in extending our heartfelt appreciation to Bridgett, to Bryan, and to the entire Windsor Ridge team, past and present, who have contributed to this remarkable 25-year journey. Let us celebrate this achievement, and look forward to many more years of delivering exceptional care, love, and passion to our residents.”

Brian Bartley, founder and former president, praised the facility and the staff. Bartley said that if he was at war he’d want the Windsor Ridge staff in his foxhole and noted how well the facility functioned during the COVID crisis.

Executive Director Bridgett Burchfield – with assistance from Vonda Minnich, business office director – coordinated the event that included friends and family of current and former residents. Burchfield told the crowd, “Thank you for letting us take care of your family.”

Briscoe Kuhlman, senior communications director, introduced Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs who spoke briefly and noted the number of children who attended with their parents, saying, “This really is a family.”

Brewer ended the event by calling all of the current staff together for a photograph.

Windsor Ridge is now part of the Inspirit Senior Living communities and provides 24-hour onsite nurse service, healthcare management, restorative rehabilitation programs and nightly and hourly room checks. Director of Dietary Services Christina Silvers provides a culinary experience for all residents.

“The 25th anniversary of Windsor Ridge Assisted Living is not just a celebration of time; it is a heartfelt reminder of the vibrant community that thrives within its walls.  Here’s to do everything with love,” said Burchfield.
