On Thursday, December 6, 2012 the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will hold a public hearing to gather input on the proposed James White Parkway Extension in Knoxville.
The James White Parkway Extension project was initiated at the request of local officials more than two decades ago to help alleviate congestion and address safety concerns on Chapman Highway. Because significant investments have already been made, it is incumbent on TDOT to complete the next step of the process, which is to hold the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public hearing.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the public with the options being considered for the James White Parkway Extension, including the “no build” option, and receive comments. Once those comments are received, TDOT will decide whether or not to continue the development of the project or to eliminate it altogether.
