Knoxville Children’s Theatre will present a live stage adaptation of the classic adventure tale, “The Ballad of Robin Hood” written by Knoxville Children’s Theatre founder, Zack Allen and adapted by Julia Stark. The play will be performed August 16 through September 1: Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM.
The heir to the throne, Richard the Lionhearted is abroad, and forces led by The Sheriff of Nottingham seek to crown a usurper, the wicked Prince John instead! But the rightful Earl of Huntingdon, Robert Fitzooth of Locksley, also known as Robin Hood, joins with other stouthearted men and women of England to fight for the true king no matter what befalls! “The Ballad of Robin Hood” is based on one of the most famous adventure stories of all time and features many favorite characters including Friar Tuck, Little John, Maid Marion and more!
The play is performed by 16 talented young actors, from ages 10 to 16.
Eason Bullard, a veteran of 15 KCT shows, plays the title role.
Emmalee Merrill portrays Maid Marion, and Oliva Rhea plays Catherine, the scheming daughter of the Sheriff of Nottingham, who is played by Alex Montgomery. The rest of the cast features Truman Ball, PJ Copeland, Cooper Delamain, Ethan Elder, Sophia Elkins, Joshua Howerton, Tripp Keeton, Wyatt Keeton, Mateo Meija, Cordelia Nelson, Deshaun O’Keefe, and Sydney Parman.
The play is directed by Julia Stark. The production team includes Gabe Lapham, a junior at Bearden High, who is the production’s scene designer. Bella Patterson, an 8th grader at Tate’s School, and Maddy Grace Payne, an 8th Grader at Vine, will design and build the costumes. and senior and KCT intern Charlotte Stark will design the lighting. The play’s stage manager is West High senior, Leigh Shields.
