Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) will host the “Our Kids, Our Future” Grand Opening to reveal its new, state-of-the-art Teen Center on Monday, November 7 at 11:30 a.m. at 967 Irwin Street on the same campus with the Haslam Family Boys & Girls Club on Caswell Avenue.
The public is invited for the Teen Center reveal, lunch, and a ribbon cutting. The grand opening celebration is the culmination of the “Our Kids, Our Future” comprehensive fundraising campaign that began in November of 2014.
BGCTNV broke ground on the new 54,000-square-foot complex in spring of last year as part of an initiative to expand the organization’s reach in East Tennessee. The new complex includes a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, two gymnasiums, a technology center, a fitness center, and special interest areas for performing arts, work force development, life skills and much more.
The building was completed this June, when the teens and administrative offices moved in and demolition of the old teen center began. The Teen Center, serving Club members in grades 6-12, sits adjacent to the Haslam Family Club which will continue to serve young people in grades K-5.
“This is more than just a building,” said BGCTNV President & CEO Bart McFadden. “It’s about the people inside. It’s about serving the kids and teens in our communities who need us. This new Club will answer the call that our community has made on behalf of young people: to have a safe place with caring adults and opportunities to achieve their dreams.”
As part of the grand opening, an anonymous donor has agreed to match all donations now through November 30 up to $50,000. To donate, visit www.greatfuturesknox.org or text MATCH50 to 52000 to give $10.
