Council will meet on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m., in the City County Building Main Assembly Room, 400 Main St., to discuss the application and appointment process for filling the open City Council seat when 1st District Councilmember Stephanie Welch steps down in February. At the workshop, they will also determine the timeline and requirements for submitting an application.

Councilmember Welch accepted Mayor Kincannon’s offer to work as Chief Economic and Community Development Officer and Deputy in her administration.  Once the Council 1st District seat becomes open, the City’s Charter says that replacing a council member midterm requires a special selection process.
