Delegates from the 2nd Congressional District’s Democratic Party met recently to select five members to attend their national convention this year in Philadelphia, Pa. Both the campaigns of Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were present and divided into the two groups to each select their delegates.
National Committeeman Bill Owen chaired the selection and Sylvia Woods, a member of the state Executive Committee, tallied the votes.
Selected by the Hillary Clinton delegates were Elizabeth Rowland and Paul Witt with Linda Maccabee chosen as the alternate delegate. Delegates for Bernie Sanders selected two delegates and they were Amanda Kruel and Thomas Carpenter.
Delegates to the caucus came from Knox, Blount, Jefferson, Claiborne and Loudon Counties.
The National Democrat Convention takes place the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia July 25th-28th.
