Knox County to Host Third Annual ‘Camporee’ at Melton Hill Park
Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Knox County Parks & Recreation are hosting the third annual weekend-long immersive camping experience in April at Melton Hill Park (3230 Williams Bend Road).
The camping event, which takes place from 4 p.m. April 26 to 11 a.m. April 28, will feature interactive nature programming for both kids and adults, a sunset movie and local band campfire jam session, water sport rentals, and some of the most beautiful views in the area.
The event – nicknamed the “camporee” – is free but open only to Knox County residents. Only those registered will be allowed to camp, and registration opens today. (Folks can click here to reserve a spot.)
“Our Parks & Recreation Department continues to highlight the best our community has to offer,” Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said.
Added Parks & Recreation Senior Director Joe Mack: “These events are about togetherness and having fun.”
Tent sites are designed to accommodate up to six people and group sites can accommodate up to 12. The county will send campsite reservations and a list of weekend activities the week prior to the event.
Pets are welcome but must be on leash and under control at all times. For the safety of your pet and park wildlife, pets may not be left unattended. Alcohol is not permitted.
An onsite bathhouse offers showers and restroom facilities, but it is important to note that camp sites will not include electric or water hook-up.
