On Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will launch the 2021-22 season with the Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series’ presentation of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.” (A second performance will be held at the same time and location on Friday, Sept. 24.)
The ticketed concert will feature performances by the orchestra, Knoxville Poet Laureate Rhea Carmon and guest violinist Robyn Bollinger. Valerie Coleman’s “Umoja: Anthem of Unity” and Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod Variations” bookend Vivaldi’s piece.
Sponsored by Twin City Dealerships, the season opener celebrates the return to full-capacity performances at the Tennessee Theatre for the first time since February 2020. Themes of friendship, fellowship and community will be shared on stage.
