Knoxville Lady Force Ties Home Opener Against Alabama FC

The 2013 Knoxville Lady Force home opener at Regal Stadium on the UT-Knoxville campus began Saturday afternoon in sunny, 90 degree temperature weather.  Alabama FC, a new team in the WPSL’s Southeastern Conference, traveled from Birmingham to face the Lady Force who are starting their second season in the league.   The teams played good head to head soccer throughout the first half, with the main activity being substitutions due to the heat on the field of play.  The Lady Force and Alabama went into the locker room at the half in a 0-0 tie.

The hot weather was still a factor as substitutions began early in the second half.  Alabama substituted at least fifty times, significantly slowing the pace and progress of the game. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.  More than 500 fans braved the sweltering heat to see the Lady Force perform well in their 2013 home opener.  Next week’s game is against the Gulf Coast Texans from Panama City FL.
