Children, their families and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett will wade into Beaver Creek this weekend as part of a fish assessment activity during Families in the Creek. The event is an educational opportunity for families to explore a local creek and learn about water quality issues.
Knox County’s Stormwater Management and Parks & Recreation departments are teaming up with the Beaver Creek Task Force to host the event onSaturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at the Halls Greenway behind Food City, 7114 Maynardville Pike. The event was originally scheduled for May 18 but postponed due to inclement weather.
In addition to fish assessment, other educational activities at the event will include a stream walk, benthic macroinvertebrate assessment and scavenger hunt.
