KNOXVILLE, TN – The annual Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards is now accepting nominations for outstanding adult and youth volunteers who have made a significant impact in their communities. This initiative honors volunteers from each of Tennessee’s 95 counties and provides an opportunity to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to serve others.
United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) is coordinating the nominations process for the following East Tennessee counties: Anderson, Grainger, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Sevier and Union counties. Nonprofit professionals and community members are encouraged to submit nominations for dedicated volunteers who deserve to be recognized. Nominations must be submitted online by October 25, 2024. To nominate a volunteer, visit uwgk.org/vol-stars.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of our communities, providing support during emergencies, mentoring our youth, improving our outdoor spaces and more,” says Matt Ryerson, President and CEO of UWGK. “These awards are a small way to recognize our community’s dedicated servants for the tremendous impact they have on our city.”
By submitting a nomination, you are acknowledging the hard work of volunteers and giving them a chance to be chosen as the county’s representative for either the Adult Governor’s Volunteer Star Award or the Youth Governor’s Volunteer Star Award. A panel will select one youth and one adult finalist from each participating county, who will be invited to attend the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards ceremony in Nashville on February 16, 2025.
