State Senator Becky Massey, R-Knoxville, officially began her fourth full term in the Tennessee Senate on Tuesday as she took the Oath of Office during the opening session of the 114th General Assembly. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber in Nashville, where other newly elected and reelected senators were also sworn in to their new terms. On Thursday, Massey was also reappointed chairman of the Senate Transportation and Safety Committee by Lt. Gov. Randy McNally.

“Thank you to the voters in District 6 for having the confidence in me to represent them in Nashville,” said Massey. “As a mother and grandmother, I understand the challenges many families are facing, and I will fight every day to create the best possible Tennessee for families to thrive.”

Lt. Gov. McNally praised Chairman Massey after reappointing her as a committee chairman.

“Becky Massey is a compassionate legislator dedicated to representing her constituents,” said Lt. Gov McNally. “She understands the importance of transportation to our economy and is dedicated to keeping Tennessee citizens safe. Her talents and abilities are perfect for this committee.”

Sen. Massey was re-elected in November to serve another four-year term. First elected to the Tennessee Senate in 2011 in a special election, Massey has served as a Senator the last 14 years. Aside from her legislative duties, Massey was the former Sertoma Center executive director where she managed over a $9 million budget and oversaw over 200 employees.
