Every third Thursday of the month, the Seymour Area Chamber of Commerce (S.A.C.C.) members get together for a morning breakfast to build their business relationships. The Chamber had a lot to celebrate at its breakfast meeting in December, hosted by Chamber member Sevier County Bank in Seymour, on the 18th.
Starting off with a food drive for the C.R.O.S.S. Food Ministry on Boyds Creek Highway, attendees brought non-perishable food items to be donated to those in need this holiday season. The personnel from C.R.O.S.S. educated the breakfast attendees on how its services help our community year ‘round. Those interested in holding a food drive at any time of the year should contact C.R.O.S.S.
Secondly, the Chamber was happy to present the Veterans Emergency Fund of Sevier County with a handsome check from a portion of the net proceeds the Chamber fundraised at its Seymour Salutes Veterans event on November 8th. These funds are allocated to the needy Veterans of Sevier County as the abiding organization sees fit. Also during this presentation, a District Representative from Congressman Phil Roe’s office, John Abe Teague, presented the oldest and the youngest Veteran who attended the Seymour Salutes Veterans event, with certificates from the Congressman’s office. These two gentlemen, Normal E. Burleson and Breckenridge S. Morgan, were happy to accept this great tribute. “Thank you for giving Congressman Roe the opportunity to participate,” said Mr. Teague, as he thanked the Chamber for including the Congressman in its Seymour Salutes Veterans activities in recognition of our Veterans.
Lastly, the Chamber presented trophies to the winners of the 21st Annual Seymour Community Christmas Parade. The Chamber was honored to be host again for such an event where the community itself not only has a lot of fun preparing for and being in the parade, but serves in raising funds that go to the needy families in Seymour, determined by our principals in our area schools.
“As the year comes to an end, the Seymour Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the residents for all they have done this year to support the community and all of those who serve it. We look forward to another year of such active participation,” said Linda Karam, President, S.A.C.C.
