TEC BRINGS RECYCLING ROUNDUP TO KNOX COUNTY
Area Residents Invited to Clean Up, Drive Through, and Drop Off
Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) is excited to host their first Recycling Roundup in Knox County thanks to sponsorship funding from Cemex and and the EPA and additional support from City of Knoxville and Keep Knoxville Beautiful. Local residents and surrounding community members are encouraged to bring their hard-to-recycle items to Chilhowee Park on Thursday, October 24th, from 10 am to 2 pm. Anyone willing to drive to the event is welcome to attend. Residents may bring electronics, tires, scrap metal, mattresses, food and beverage glass bottles, select Styrofoam, pet supplies, eyeglasses and more. Secure paper shredding will also be on site. Visit tectn.org/knoxvilleroundup for a detailed list of materials that will be accepted at the event, as well as any item limitations.
This event is one of many being organized by Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC), a statewide non-profit organization. TEC’s goal with these events is to reduce illegal dumping and litter across Tennessee, while reducing the public’s reliance on landfills. This event is free and open to all residents. Remaining Roundups for the year will take place in Centerville and Lebanon.
“These Roundups make it easy and convenient for residents to recycle,” says Abby Schneider, TEC’s Recycle Tennessee Program Director. “We look forward to providing an opportunity to educate community members with recycling resources that they may be unaware of,” says Schneider.
