Knoxville, TN – The Salvation Army Knoxville Area Command is seeking volunteers to serve as bellringers for the upcoming Red Kettle Campaign, an iconic holiday tradition that plays a crucial role in providing vital services to those in need locally. The Red Kettle Campaign has been a symbol of hope and compassion for over a century, and volunteers are the heart and soul of this charitable effort. Bell ringers are needed starting November 8th through Christmas Eve.

The Red Kettle Campaign, a cherished holiday tradition since 1891, is one of The Salvation Army’s most recognized fundraising initiatives. Every year, from early November through Christmas Eve, thousands of red kettles and volunteer bellringers can be found outside storefronts and shopping centers across the nation, collecting donations that make a profound impact on local communities.

The funds raised through the Red Kettle Campaign are used to support a wide range of programs and services that help individuals and families in need, including providing warm meals to the hungry and homeless, offering shelter and support to individuals experiencing homelessness, supplying clothing and essential items to those in crisis, offering addiction recovery services, and providing Christmas gifts and holiday assistance to families in need.

“Our Red Kettle Campaign is a symbol of hope during the holiday season. It brings communities together and helps us fulfill our mission of Doing the Most Good. Volunteers are the lifeblood of this campaign, and we are grateful for their dedication and compassion,” said Major Cameron Henerson of The Salvation Army in Knoxville. The local Salvation Army unit has a goal of recruiting 500 bellringers this season.

Bellringing is easy, and volunteers can do as many 2-hour shifts as they like, be it 1 or 100. You can ring by yourself, with your family, or even a business or church group!
