During this holiday season, The Salvation Army Knoxville Area Command is ramping up efforts to support those most in need. This year, The Salvation Army seeks to raise $225,000 to meet the growing demand for essential services in the Knoxville community.

Every year, The Salvation Army of Knoxville provides over 35,000 meals, 34,000 nights of shelter, and 2,000 boxes of food to local residents. The holiday season can be especially difficult for many, and donations are crucial to ensuring that no one is left behind during this time of year.

“The holiday season brings unique challenges for many in our community, but it also brings out the generosity of those who can help,” said Major Cameron Henderson, Area Command for The Salvation Army of Knoxville. “Every donation, no matter the size, is a step toward lifting someone out of hardship. Your support helps bring hope and stability to those who need it most – not just during Christmas but also throughout the entire year.”

Funds raised during the holiday season support initiatives like the Angel Tree program, which provides clothes and toys to children and seniors. Donations also help provide year-round aid such as rent, utility, and housing assistance for individuals facing financial hardship. In Knoxville, The Salvation Army also offers a food pantry, individualized case management, disaster relief, and spiritual care.

Here are several ways to give and get involved with The Salvation Army Knoxville Area Command this holiday season:

The Salvation Army of Knoxville also invites corporations and organizations to participate in its annual Christmas campaign by sponsoring a Kettle Match Day, a unique opportunity to amplify the impact of every donation made at Red Kettles. This year, several generous local sponsors have already pledged matching funds, including:

With more match days available, businesses can play a pivotal role in helping The Salvation Army meet critical needs in the community this holiday season. For details on how to sponsor a match day, please contact Kayla Klein at (865) 335-9580.

Although the Red Kettle Campaign officially started November 8th, The Salvation Army of Knoxville will “Kick Off” the Red Kettle Campaign at the Knoxville Ice Bears Hockey Game this Friday, November 15th. The Salvation Army Area Commanders, Majors Cameron and Paula Henderson, along with Mayor Glenn Jacobs will assist with the puck drop at the game.
