The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Charleston Alumni Chapter is hosting the inaugural Vol Nation Golf Classic on Saturday, March 3, at Patriots Point Links on the Charleston Harbor. The goal of the event is to bring UT alumni and friends together from across the country to raise awareness and scholarship funds for UTK Chapters nationwide. Participants aren’t required to be UT alumni.

The festivities begin at 11:00 am with a shotgun start.

Non-golfers who would like to participate are invited to attend a post-event award reception and after-party at the Patriot’s Harbor Pavilion, which will consist of food, drinks, raffles, music, and games.

With more than 50 active alumni chapters nationwide, alumni volunteer leaders take pride in the impact they can continue to have on their alma mater.

“This academic year, 50 chapter scholarships were awarded to UT students from across the country thanks to generous contributions from more than 2,500 individual donors,” said Rick Tringali, president of the Charleston Alumni Chapter. “Our chapter’s hope is that the Vol Nation Golf Classic becomes an annual tradition for alumni to showcase how much fun we have representing UT across the country and help inspire others to continue to serve our students and university through alumni chapter involvement.”

“Strengthening alumni involvement and supporting current and future UT students are a great way for alumni chapters across the country to help advance UT,” said Lee Patouillet, associate vice chancellor of alumni affairs.  “The impact that our alumni and friends can have on the next generation of Vols is remarkable.”
