Upcoming Festivals, Events approved for Beer Permits

The Knoxville City Council’s Beer Board met Tuesday and quickly moved through more than two dozen requests for a permit. Most of the applicants were convenience stores and restaurants but several were requests for special events.
Chairwoman Lauren Rider guided the board through all the requests in less than an hour with most of the requests granted pending completion of requirements such as surrendering the former license for the business, completing server training, or health department inspections.
Several of the agenda items dealt with prior applicants who haven’t completed construction or other business requirements. The groups seeking permits for special events came prepared with all the paperwork completed.
Non-profit organizations continue to seek beer permits for special events and David Hearnes of Blount Mansion came before the board for a “Summer BBQ” celebration set for July 27. The event will feature bluegrass, BBQ, bourbon and beer and was approved.
Robin Roberts Promotion LLC was granted a beer permit for the Salty Dog Seafood Festival set for July 19-21. Marjorie Davenport, the manager, presented the application.
A permit was also approved for the Hazen Historical Museum Foundation for an“Old Fashioned July 4th “ event.
Hola Hora Latina received a beer permit for the HoLa Festival at the World’s Fair Park planned for September 21-22. Roger Roark spoke for the organization.
