U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present 150 citizenship candidates to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee on Friday during a naturalization ceremony.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Suzanne H. Bauknight will administer the Oath of Allegiance to the soon-t0-be citizens. The 150 citizenship candidates originate from 51 countries. Naturalization ceremonies are held in Knoxville about four times a year.
USCIS is the government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States. USCIS naturalized more than 750,000 people in fiscal year 2018.
