Farragut High School won the State Softball Championship last Friday with a 4-2 win over Coffee Co. at the Spring Fling last week. It was their second win over the Lady Raiders in the double-elimination tournament

The Lady Admirals wrapped up the tournament on Friday, May 28. All games were played at the Murfreesboro Sports Complex and McKnight Fields.

After going down 2-0 in the top of the fifth, the Lady Admirals scored three in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead. Another run in the sixth finished the scoring.

In the fifth, Pressley singled to left. After a popout, Avery Strickland singled on a bunt. Pressley then scored on a groundout. A double by Cameron Young to left scored Strickland. Lauren Brakovec then lined a single to left, scoring Young. Farragut would have all the runs it needed.

On Tuesday, Farragut beat Dickson Co. 3-1. They scored single runs in the first, third and sixth innings. The run in the third came on a home run by third baseman Young. First baseman Brakovec and shortstop Ava Guzowski also hit run-scoring groundouts.

On Wednesday, FHS played Coffee Co a first time and won 2-0. The Lady Admirals scored single runs in the third and fourth.

In the third, Hannah Pfeifer hit a grounder that scored Strickland who had tripled. Strickland then hit a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Gibbs High School, a perennial fixture in the softball state tournament, lost to Lexington 3-1 in the semifinals of Division I, Class AA.
