Giving Thanks

Perhaps because Thanksgiving occurs late this year, I am better organized. The holiday season is crunch time for columnists because we have to produce several columns in short order before the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
This Thanksgiving, I’ll be working on two separate essays. However, since Christmas and New Year’s occur early in the week, only one column will be required of us.
This is probably what my nurse used to refer to as “TMI” (too much information). She often used this phrase while rolling her eyes regarding information left by patients on her phone recorder. So, I’ll whine no more about column deadlines but ask you to “be kind to your columnist” during holidays.
This essay will appear the week of Thanksgiving, but thankfulness should not be just once a year. Every morning when I awaken, my first thought is to thank the Lord for another day of life, my wonderful wife and the salvation afforded me through my Lord Jesus Christ.
But, what if you awakened one morning and everything that you believed to be true was shown to be a lie? You would of course have to either accept the evidence or maintain your misconceptions. We are now aware of the propaganda, brainwashing and mis-education by Democrats, the legacy media and academia. Although it is disturbing to watch, I am thankful that the majority of Americans are seeing them for what they are and what they’ve done.
Robert Malone MD is the medical researcher who invented the mRNA technology which led to the COVID-19 vaccines. I have followed his writing for some time. He is conservative and doubted much of the COVID hysteria of masks, six-foot spacing and shutting down schools, churches and businesses. He was pilloried by the left. Malone introduced me to the concept of “formation psychosis,” a term that can be simply defined as mass hysteria.
While I am no psychiatrist, the hysteria over the results of the election is evidenced by women screaming into their iPhones and posting their rants, dyeing their hair blue or shaving their heads. Some have demanded that women break up with their conservative boyfriends, abstain from intimacy, divorce their husbands and avoid their families at Thanksgiving. This unhinged behavior is ideologically driven and delusional. So where did this lunacy come from? It came from the propaganda of journalists, more than 90% of whom are Democrats, and also from academia where Democrats outnumber conservative professors twelve to one.
Many have heard of the deep state, defined as the cadre of unelected Washington bureaucrats. However, a more appropriate term is The Blob which includes not only bureaucrats, but also scores of people who circulate from think tanks, lawmakers, academia, journalists, and Washington elites to various positions.
Trump won the presidency in 2016 and thought the hysteria over his defeat of Hillary Clinton would settle down and people would be reasonable. He was an outsider to Washington. So, to fill government positions he took the advice of Washington insiders, i.e., The Blob. Many of these participated in sabotaging his presidency.
This time, President Trump understands Washington and won’t be fooled again. His Cabinet and appointments will be those loyal to Trump and the MAGA agenda, rather than from the subversive Blob. Democrats and their legacy media, RINOs and Washington elites are screaming about many of President Trump’s appointments. My opinion regarding appointments was not sought. Nor do I know much about Trump’s choices. However, I trust nothing coming out of Washington or the legacy media.
I do trust President Trump who won the popular vote and swept the Electoral College. He has heroic qualities: returning from defeat in 2020 amidst an election corrupted by COVID; overcoming bogus impeachment attempts; persevering through corrupt lawfare that disparaged him, and tried to bankrupt him and his family and supporters; and surviving two assassination attempts because of, what I believe was, ideologically driven FBI leadership neglect and incompetence.
If there is any common ground between traditional Democrats and conservative Republicans it is that Washington is broken and its institutions have been utterly corrupted. I don’t believe patchwork fixes will be effective. President Trump returns to Washington with a mandate to break up and reconstitute the dysfunctional bureaucracy. Yes, Trump and his loyalists will be disruptive to the status quo, and he will reverse the destructive Biden policies. Good!
Several have asked me if I’m glad Harris was defeated. My response is, “No, I’m relieved.” We now have a chance to Make America Great Again, but you can count on Democrats and the unhinged left to fight America first policies.
A party out of power becomes the resistance. Democrat governors and sanctuary city mayors are vowing to resist fixing the illegal immigration disaster. And election officials in Pennsylvania are counting illegal ballots in the Senate race recount, defying their Supreme Court and Democrat governor.
I could go on, but you get the picture. We anticipate resistance from vacuous illiberal celebrities whose endorsements were shown to cost Democrats a fortune and be worthless. Likewise, the Progressive socialists and leftists who run the Democrat party will defy the American people’s will. And the legacy media will continue to lie, drop eff bomb invectives and scream Hitler! But wait, MSNBC and CNN have lost so many viewers and ad revenue that their parent companies may fire their “stars” and sell the networks.
Andrew Breitbart famously said, “Politics is downstream from culture.” The mood of the country has changed, and President Trump is being sent to Washington to change the direction of the country. Even Bezos’ Washington Post and the owner of The LA Times recognize the seismic shift and the necessity to change or “die.” The management of MSNBC sent Morning Joe and Mika to Mar-a-Lago with an “olive branch” to keep their jobs. ABC is looking for a conservative for The View. This is all driven by economic desperation rather than a change of heart. These liberals remain wolves in sheep’s clothing and enemies of MAGA.
I am not taunting, I’m just trusting Trump and his entourage. And, like so many, I’m doing the Trump Twist!
