150 Years and Strong!

By Ralphine Major

For 150 years, it has been a shining beacon in the Gibbs Community.  Graveston Baptist Church celebrated its 150th Anniversary on Sunday, June 9, with a special service led by Dr. Jack Parrott, Pastor Emeritus of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church.  Nestled in a beautiful pastoral setting above Harbison’s Crossroads in rural Northeast Knox County, Graveston was chartered on June 11, 1869.

The church continues its celebration year with the scheduling of some powerful services.  On October 13 at 10:30 a.m., the guest speaker sharing his testimony will be Gary Christian of Gary Christian Ministries.  Focus readers may recall that Christian’s beautiful daughter, Channon, was kidnapped, tortured, and brutally murdered in 2007.

Pastor Sean Watson and the congregation of Graveston Baptist invite you to come and be a part of their services on this particular Sunday or any other Lord’s Day.  Sunday School is at 9:15 a.m., and worship service is at 10:30 a.m.  The church is located at 8319 Clapps Chapel Road, Corryton, TN 37721.  Learn more about the ministries at
